no the whole love story and the diamond never happened. the old woman is just an actress playing a survivor in the movie. Her name is Gloria Stuart. :)





Some of the characters in the movie were real people like Molly Brown played by Kathy Bates and the ship designer played by Victor Garber. Also, when they "go down" to see the ship, thats footage of the actual Titanic wreck I believe.




the titanic sinking was real , but the love story (including the old lady) was made up to make the movie more intresting..pretty much the only real part about the movie was the bought sinking..
